Common Social Media Mishaps
Social Media has developed over the years to provide business owners with tools needed to build an audience and thrive online. Each social media platform has the ability to tell your story, connect with your audience, and be social in a different way!
Today we will be discussing common social media mistakes that may hinder your social media efforts ineffective! I realized we all make these three social media mistakes! I am guilty! The lovely thing about gaining knowledge is that you are able to come at things from a different perspective!
MISTAKE NUMBER ONE:
SHARING THE SAME CONTENT ON EVERY PLATFORM
I am guilty of this one! It is so simple to just press that share button once you post on instagram! Each social media platform is unique and caters to a different sector of your audience. It is important to remember when creating content for your social media platforms that you take into account the engagement you get per each.
Ask yourself:
What is the purpose of this content?
What audience are your trying to reach?
How can you display one piece of content in many different ways?
MISTAKE NUMBER TWO:
NEVER PROVIDING A CALL TO ACTION
You may think that you do not need to tell your audience what you would like them to do or maybe you think a simple double tap will suffice but calls to action are essential in effective social media marketing. Think about what you would like for your followers, visitors, or friends to do when they see your post during their routine scroll.
Ask Yourself:
Do you want them to like, comment, subscribe, tag a friend, or share?
Is your call-to-action clear (either at the front or end of your caption)?
MISTAKE NUMBER THREE:
NOT ENGAGING WITH YOUR AUDIENCE
Maybe the better way of saying this is that you are forgetting to engage with your followers! I have been there, saw a comment, crafted the best response in my head, then forgot to respond! It happens! A huge part of effective social media marketing is being social with the community that you are building!
